Welcome to the Nature Inspired Teacher Blog

Jul 01, 2026

Welcome to the Nature Inspired Teacher Blog. I’m so glad you’re here.

This space was created for early childhood educators who want to bring more nature, wonder, and calm into their classrooms, outdoor spaces, and everyday teaching routines. Whether you teach in a public preschool, childcare center, family childcare home, forest program, kindergarten classroom, or another early learning setting, this blog is here to support you with practical ideas that feel doable.

Nature-inspired teaching does not have to mean hiking deep into the woods every day or completely redesigning your program overnight. It can begin with small, meaningful shifts. A basket of pinecones in the block area, a seasonal poem at morning meeting, or a muddy puddle explored with curiosity instead of worry. A few extra minutes outside noticing the wind, the birds, the shadows, or the changing light.

Small steps lead to big impacts.

Here on the Nature Inspired Teacher Blog, you’ll find ideas for outdoor learning, nature-based curriculum, classroom environments, seasonal planning, process art, documentation, family engagement, teacher wellness, and more. My hope is that each post gives you something useful: a new idea to try, a question to reflect on, a resource to explore, or a little encouragement for the work you are already doing.

Nature has a beautiful way of helping us slow down and notice what matters. It supports children’s curiosity, movement, sensory exploration, creativity, language, problem-solving, and social-emotional growth. It also supports us as educators. Bringing in nature brings in the calm to your classroom, and sometimes, it brings that calm back to us, too.

At Nature Inspired Teacher, we believe that nature-based learning can happen in many kinds of programs. You do not need a perfect outdoor classroom, a huge budget, or unlimited planning time. You need a willingness to begin, to observe, to wonder alongside children, and to keep taking one small step at a time.

This blog will grow as a resource with ideas, stories, reflections, and practical supports for educators who want to weave nature more fully into their teaching practice.

I’m honored to have you here and excited to share this journey with you.

Let’s bring more nature, wonder, and calm into early childhood education, together.
